Even though The Vanbrugh is only a short walk from the heart of Greenwich, some people tell us they have passed it for years without knowing it exists. But, if you’re looking for somewhere in Greenwich to relax, to meet friends and to eat and drink well, we look forward to welcoming you. We have a traditional bar, a lounge for relaxing and formal eating, a marquee for informal eating and drinking and a beautifully landscaped garden that’s great for families and on hot summer evenings. All our food is freshly prepared. We have a good selection of wines (by the bottle or the glass) and beers (a wide selection of bottled and draught beers, including a guest real ale). We have made the provision of high-quality food and drink a high priority.
Sir John Vanbrugh, after whom The Vanbrugh was named was a supremely talented man in a number of unconnected fields. He was the architect of Blenheim Palace, Castle Howard and contributed to the design of Greenwich Hospital but was also the author of a number of plays that are still performed today, 250 years after his death.
There is free parking outside the pub and all areas of the pub are accessible with wheelchairs and buggies.
